Samir Nakra completed his Graduation in Commerce from Bhopal School of Social Sciences. Then, he joined IMA, Dehradun and did his 1 year Military Training and passed out in 1995. He served Indian Army for 8 years wherein he was posted in various regiments at various places in India. His first posting was in regiment of Artilary on the western sector in Gujarat for 4 years. He was also posted at the Line of Control at high altitude. He served Indian Army as Major in Siachin and was also posted at the time of Parliament Attacks.
