Shweta Singh did B Sc & M Sc in Zoology from Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra. She did her dissertation in Molecular Biology. She joined Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in 2013 in All India Tiger Monitoring Project. She is currently working in Genetic Connectivity of Large Carnivores. She is a Senior Research Fellow at WII.

Conservation genetics is an interdisciplinary subfield of Population Genetics that aims to understand the dynamics of genes in populations principally to avoid extinction. Therefore, it applies genetic methods to the conservation and restoration of biodiversity.
