LifePage - Career Counselling 2.0
If you are a Career Advisor, or wanting to become one, then you should seriously consider associating with LifePage – world’s most evolved Career platform.
Career Counselling has remained unchanged for a very long time: do some psychometric testing and then map one’s skills and interests to the job market. The problem is, personality of most Career seekers is still evolving and with newer Careers, the link between skills and jobs has become very dynamic. Given these constraints, it becomes very difficult to help a Career seeker with the Why, consequently most focus in on the How – which is also steadily getting redundant in today’s internet driven world.
LifePage is Career Counselling 2.0 – real professionals explain different Careers and the LifePage Career Advisor aligns the Career seeker with the real professional. Plus we do this very efficiently, with videos, apps, software and proprietary algorithms. With this change in approach, we are able to address the Why and also offer a skill based solution to the How.
Engagement Models
We are eager to work with the Career Counsellor community across the world. We wish to become the content and technology partners for this new era of Career Counselling. Here are various ways in which you can engage with LifePage:
1) Use LifePage App as a research tool
The LifePage Career Talks App has 1,269 videos of real professionals sharing honest opinions about their Careers. To make these Career Talks effective, all of them follow exactly the same format.
For example, the Career Talk on Law will get into:
- What is Law?
- What Education is required for Law (not qualifications – that comes later, at this stage you are trying to find whether you want to become a Lawyer or an Architect). Education is basically things which you can learn from books, which will make you a good Lawyer.
- What Skills are needed in Law?
- What are the Positives of being a Lawyer?
- What are the Challenges of being a Lawyer?
- How a Day goes in the life of a Lawyer?
So a Career seeker watches a 20 minute video on Law and now has a better understanding of Law as a Career. However, the idea is not just to provide information but also to enable him or her to take a Career decision. The candidate, can now do a Self Assessment on Law to get a score we call the Dream Index, which says “According to the Lawyer in the video, your chances of success in Law is 76%.” That number in isolation does not mean much but when the candidate gets a Dream Index of 56% on Architecture then that goes a long way in figuring out which Career is better for him or her.
On the LifePage Career Talks App you can find Talks right from Ecotoxicology, to Marine Engineering, to Pediatrics, to Acting, to exotic Pole Dancing... With 1,269 Career Talks on more than 1,000 Career options, LifePage is the largest knowledge repository of Careers in the whole world. This coupled with Self Assessments on every Career Talk, the App is an excellent tool for Career Self Introspection.
Downloading the LifePage Career Talks App is free, watching any Career Talk on the App is free and Self Assessment on any Career Talk is just ? 100 ($ 1.4).
2) Use the LifePage Career Plan to compliment your Career practice
The LifePage Career Plan is a 14 hour program where a dedicated LifePage Career Advisor works with a Career seeker to document: which Career is best, how to get in it and how to excel at it. It is a great solution for Career Exploration and Career Strategy; however we do not have an offering to help candidates with implementation of their Career Plan. And, that is where we can combine forces, LifePage becomes your back office doing Career Exploration and Strategy and you add value to the candidate by helping with execution.
At school level, this may mean helping with the college application process. At college level, this may mean helping with internship applications and soft skills training. And, for working professionals, it may mean assisting with motivation, branding, CV, time management etc. However, before we engage it is pertinent that you also believe that the LifePage Career Plan is the best possible Career Exploration and Strategy solution.
