Jasvinder Singh was born in Hisarpur district, Punjab. While he was doing his graduation in history at Punjab University, he was a topper. Thereafter he joined college to study MA in political science. While he was doing his MA in political science, he joined the BSF in 1977. He stayed there for 3 years, after which, in 1980, he was selected for the army education core. While serving the Army, he also focused on enhancing my academic qualifications and He did his B Ed, post graduate diploma in personnel management, LLB and PhD, while he was the principal of military school.
