Rajesh Mishra was born in a family of renowned legendary classical musicians such as Pt Prasiddu Ji, Pt Manohar Ji, Pt Shiva Ji, Pt Pashupati Ji and Pt Ramkishan Mishra. He grew up in a musical ambience and a rich cultural heritage of the historical city of Varanasi. Right from his childhood, he started learning music from his grandfather Late Pt Hanuman Prasad Mishra and uncles Pt Rajan Mishra and Sajan Mishra. He was then trained on the Tabla under the able guidance of Late Pt Mannu Lal Mishra and went on to becoming an accomplished Tabla player.
